GENERAL NOTES
His name was incorrectly spelled as Overpeck in the historical lists of members in the Minnesota Legislative Manuals. The Minnesota Journal of the House, 1866 lists Overbeck. A relative confirmed that is the correct spelling. The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1866 lists both Overpeck and Overbeck.
He came to Minnesota in 1857.
According to a relative "He was one of the first pioneer residents in St. Cloud, he owned the first hotel, and he was one of the first sheriffs, coroner, and had the
first jail. This log cabin he had, which was the jail, hotel, and sheriff´s department, is the oldest standing building in St. Cloud and is located on the grounds here [St. Cloud] in Heritage Park."
